Michelle has recently developed a passion for gardening and sustainability after moving to land three years ago. Her passion has grown to pasture raised chicken keeping as well and has over 30 laying chickens! She is married and has three young children that keep her busy. Ten years ago, Michelle obtained her Nursing degree and later her Nurse Practitioner degree. She has a love for education and healthy living and eating after years in the Nursing field. She now stays at home, homeschooling her children and working on McKinney Roots. Early in her Nursing career she developed a devotion for helping others. She has combined her new passion of gardening to a lifelong devotion for helping others by meeting physical needs in McKinney Roots.
Carissa's grandparents own a cotton farm in west texas. One of her favorite memories is spending time there each summer helping her Nana pick veggies from her vegetable patch, and then sitting on the porch to shell peas and shuck corn. She got the taste for home grown produce and hasn't looked back. She has a Bachelors of Fine Arts from UNT. So, growing food has an artistic bent for her. Seeing the diversity of shapes, colors and flavors that are available from fruits and veggies is simply fascinating. She is passionate about being generous with the fruits of her labor and educating those in her community about the benefits and sheer joy of loving good, fresh produce. She lives in mckinney with her husband phillip and daughter eleanor. They attend the parks church mckinney.
